THE GRANDMA BEHIND THE BLOG

Hello, my name is Diane, better known as Grandma or MawMaw.  I am a 73-year-old wife (of 54 years), mother of four (plus spouses), Grandmother of 16 which includes some spouses, and Great Grandmother of 9.

About two years ago my youngest child moved in with us along with her two children who were 2 and 3 years old at the time.  I never dreamed our “golden years” would take this turn, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.  My daily thought is, “God will never give us more than we can handle”.  Some days I have to repeat this to myself many times. On other days life is a piece of cake.

I love to cook, and I love to have my grandchildren help.  Years ago when I was a working mom, and my children were very young, I was blessed to have a wonderful mother and mother-in-law to care for my children.  They were both excellent cooks and passed that skill down to my children, especially my boys. My mother-in-law was an outstanding seamstress and taught them all to sew.  My daughters-in-law praise me for raising such talented boys, however, the praise goes to their Grandmothers for all they taught them.

We bought a place in Belize when we retired and thought that would be our new home. Boy, were we wrong!  We needed to be home with our children and grandchildren, so we sold it and moved back to Louisiana.  We only have 4 grandchildren who have moved to other states. I’m sad they are not near, but I am proud of them for taking bold steps in life to live their dreams.

By writing this blog, I hope others will see that even with all the unexpected changes life throws at us, we can all be fulfilled and thrilled.

I plan to post my daily life schedule, recipes, my accomplishments and failures, crafts, past experiences, adventures, and my journey as much as possible.

These are some family pictures over the years that I hold dear to my heart.

Grab a cup of coffee and visit me often to see what other special surprises I have in store.  I am so excited about this new adventure and meeting new friends.

 Until another day.

 Be Happy,

  Grandma
